Weiland published four solo albums before his death which made a significant collection. He had a shocking experience at the age of 12. GnR reformed with a mostly original lineup, and so did Stone Temple Pilots for a time, before Scott left for good.

Latter Years

Alongside writing his autobiography and releasing solo records, Weiland also created a cover songs record (A Compilation of Scott Weiland Cover Songs) and even an irony-free Christmas album (The Most Wonderful Time of the Year), all featuring his supersonic vocals.

This guy could sing anything.

His last musical work was the Blaster album with his band The Wildabouts.

He had an estimated net worth of$2 million as of 2022. Location rules also omitted both Chicago’s The Smashing Pumpkins and Dinosaur Jr, who hailed from Massachusetts.

Regardless, STP broke out of California and quickly went nationwide with their debut album Core, which contained hard-rocking bangers like Sex Type Thing and Dead & Bloated.

7 Things About the Late Scott Weiland You Probably Didn’t Know

For the Feb. 6, 2016 Billboard story on Scott Weiland, Billboard spoke at length with Weiland’s widow, Jamie, his parents and friends to learn all about the former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman’s final days. Here are seven things about Weiland — the man behind the star — you probably didn’t know.

One time, Stone Temple Pilots accidentally left him in Georgia. During STP’s Core tour, Weiland never told anyone he was getting off the bus to buy cigarettes and use the restroom, so his bandmates accidentally left him behind as they headed south.

According to the sources in 2007, his total asset was $2million. In an age when many rockstars opted to downplay their persona, Weiland turned it up louder than ever and walked the walk like a born superstar.

As we consider a life cut tragically short, let’s also take a second to look back over some highlights of the man’s artistic life, and celebrate the badass genius that was Scott Weiland…

Early STP Days in San Diego

Were Stone Temple Pilots a grunge band?

“We were halfway to Florida and word got around to our tour manager that he wasn’t there. And like Bowie can and does, it was Scott's phrasing that pushed his music into a unique, and hard to pin down, aesthetic sonicsphere. Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop), that had got me hooked, a wizardly mix of glam and post-punk, and I confessed to Scott, as well as the band many times, how wrong I'd been in assessing their native brilliance.

He was the one vocalist that I knew had the kind of voice that would serve what we were going to do: he had a John Lennon-ish quality, a little bit of Jim Morrison, and a touch of almost David Bowie. He was married to three different women. Grunge was a Seattle thing, so STP weren’t strictly grunge, being from sunny San Diego, a place which isn’t nearly as rainy!

Still, he won both parties over with his blend of intense charisma, panache and undeniable vocal ability. At his mid-teens, he moved back to California and attended Edison High School and Orange Coast College.

Billy Corgan had this to say:

"It was STP's third album (Tiny Music... He joined the band as the lead vocalist.

Scott Weiland - Nov. 14, 2015 (One of his last few interviews)

Weiland enjoyed much success with the band Velvet Revolver but he ended up leaving Velvet Revolver.

He was the son of Kent Kline and Sharon nee Williams, born on October 27, 1967. Also in the interview of Blender magazine, he said that he was raised a Catholic.

In the interview with Rolling Stone in 2012, Weiland claimed that he was engaged to the photographer and painter Jamie Wachtel whom he met while filming the music video of the song I'll Be Home for Christmas. Once in an interview with Heavy.Com Scott said that,

I am incredibly happy as I met her.

“He was really rattled.
